A few things about Sam:
- I fear bathing suits.
- I am literally incapable of walking in sand. The last time I went to the beach all my friends ran ahead of me while I goosewalked around like a drunk giraffe trying to make my way through that hellish wasteland of proto-glass. I don't know if it's a combination of my weight and my height, or if it's just the way I step, or if nature just really hates me. But I expend more energy walking along the beach than I do running a marathon. Or would. If I ran marathons.
- I have no control over my temperature. I get too, too hot and I get cranky and gross. This means that on hot days I lie around in shorts and tanktop and give a very Gollum-like hiss to anyone who threatens to turn the air conditioning off and I hate it.
There is very little about summer I enjoy, and even less that I tentatively look forward to. But this year I'm making an effort to actually be a little bit more cheerful in the next coming months. Let's look forward to some stuff!
- I am 23. There is nothing wrong with going into NYC on a Friday now and partying and I know I should take advantage of this. I won't have to wear coats, I won't have to worry about slipping on ice or catching the Purchase Loop on time, I can just enjoy my nights and drink cold drinks and have fun. This should be what my summers are about now, shouldn't it?
- I'm excited for more warm afternoons at the cafe, dressed in my summer cutest, my ankles crossed and sipping an almond joy coffee shake up in the loft while I type away at my novel. I plan to be doing that a lot.
- Summer recipes! Summer smoothies! Summer cakes and pies and salads and burgers! I'm excited for the inevitable return of last year's ridiculously yummy Shrimp Burgers with Chipotle Cream and Coconut Peach Salsa or maybe finally tackling the Mexican Chocolate Shake with a side of Avocado Brownies!
- Already this summer I've gotten Animal Crossing for my 3DS, and August marks the release of Rune Factory 4, the spinoff Harvest Moon game I've had my eye on for a while. So maybe it's not an outside thing to do, but it's still something to look forward to!
- So as if it wasn't already obvious enough, I'm going to put a great big "GIRL, I'M A GIRL GIRL GIRLY GIRL" sticker on my blog. I'll admit it, I'm way more excited for City of Bones to come out than I want to admit. I don't really advertise my liking of this series (I have mixed feelings about the books as books, but overall I guess if I didn't enjoy it I wouldn't have read all the books in it so far) but it's like a bag of Doritos. The very thought of one of those dusty, orange triangles is enough to make my stomach turn at the very thought of the lack of nutritional value...until you feed me one. And then I want the whole bag.
Except inside this bag is Jonathan Rhys Meyers
- And last, but certainly not least, I'll totally be attending the Budweiser Made in America Festival; my first music festival ever and I'm so pumped for it! NIN! I'm still waiting to find out if I'm getting two day passes or just the one, but no matter what it's going to be a crazy, insane weekend.
Are you excited for anything in the next couple months?
